Sheila Dalton has writ a gratifying review of Linda Hutsell-Manning’s ‘The Killing Room’! Thank you very much, Sheila. 💛🧡

You can read the full review here:

“‘The Killing Room’ is powerful. I love that you describe the horror of that room with the kind of writerly restraint that makes it absolutely real and awful without going over the top. It meant I could read on. The fly buzzing ‘your fault’ was a brilliant move - it stays with the reader and describes the closed, hurtful world of the little girl with depth and precision. The ending is strong - my understanding of it is that Kate feels she’s the only one who can save the day - as has been drilled into her by her parents - and she’s going to attempt to do the whole killing operation herself. There’s a sense of imminent physical danger which parallels the emotional danger - I kept thinking about how that little girl was too young and small for the job, and could kill herself while trying. You’re such a talented writer - I hope you never stop!”
