Erwin Huebner

ERWIN HUEBNER explores the interface between art and science, aesthetically and philosophically in multimedia including photography, intaglio and related print media, glass and in artist books from traditional bindings to sculptural books, miniature to “mega” formats. He is passionate about the hidden beauty inherent in the “microscopic” world. As a multimedia and book artist he highlights the incredible microarchitecture of the biological world, the shapes, textures and patterns that evoke awe in a metaphysical plane above their inherent scientific content. His artistic work is significantly influenced by his experiences as scientist doing research in cell biology and imaging at the University of Manitoba in the former Department of Zoology and now Department of Biological Sciences. At Bay Press will be publishing a forthcoming book of his microscopy photographs, with poems by Ariel Gordon entitled Formidable Mouths.
