Kaitlin Littlechild

Kaitlin Littlechild (MPH) is a member of Sweetgrass First Nation in Saskatchewan and currently resides in Oromocto, New Brunswick. She received her Master of Public Health from the University of Waterloo in 2011, a certificate in addiction studies from McMaster University in 2016, a certificate in editing from Simon Fraser University in 2019, and a certificate in strategic public relations from the University of Toronto in 2023. She also received a BSc(H) in biology from Queen’s University in 2007.

As an Indigenous editor, Kaitlin provides culturally sensitive editing for Indigenous authors and non-Indigenous authors writing about Indigenous Peoples. She possesses an understanding of the need to accurately reflect Indigenous voices in a way that is truthful and respectful. Her own cultural upbringing allows her to view these works with the appropriate lenses of cultural sensitivity and cultural knowledge, and with an understanding of the unique narrative style. By engaging with Indigenous writers and working collaboratively, Kaitlin ensures that the final product respects Indigenous cultural protocols and values.

Kaitlin provides guidance on cross-cultural communication and engagement with Indigenous Peoples and communities. She has consulted on and assisted in the development of engagement strategy documents for businesses of all sizes. Kaitlin is also experienced at developing communications plans that meet the needs of the client, the audience, and the overall community. Kaitlin is experienced at harnessing the power of social media and other communication channels to meet strategic marketing and communication needs.

Kaitlin is starting her second term as the Director of Publications for Editors Canada.
